    I Love Blue Roses

My favorite flower has always been a rose, but the blue rose took on a greater meaning for me when I asked my Mother if I could have them at my wedding.  I come from a time and culture where the Bride didn't have much say in what was ordered for their wedding. That was the parents job. It was also the parents job to pay for it so I really shouldn't complain. Needless to say I never got my blue roses, but....see more

How I get paint off my work table without inhaling toxic fumes.

I use so much spray paint on my art work I am on a first name basis with the paint people at Home Depot. I can easily go in and buy 10-12 cans at a time and I do it several times a week. If it can be painted I will spray it. Here is the story of how I keep my table clean. I admit to being lazy and just let the paint fly onto my work table. I do get it off and here is how .... see more

Look What I Made From Trash

I hate waste. I am not a hoarder, but if I can avoid throwing out something I would rather reuse it, recycle it or repurpose it. A lot of my art is designed using things I already have. Not only do I save money, but I feel as if I am saving the planet. Look at some of the things I have made from things I pulled out of the trash  see more

    A Tortoise In My Yard

I have always loved turtles and tortoises and I happen to own one that weighs between 400-500 pounds named Sam. Many years ago I did animal rescue and Sam was one of the animals I rescued from a zoo that was falling apart. Sam is housed in Florida and I don't get to live with him. Imagine the damage a tortoise of that size can do in your yard. So instead I bought a replica see more...

Convert An Old Porch Swing Into A Garden Daybed

I wanted a garden daybed for the longest time. I spend so much time out there I wanted someplace comfortable to read, relax and even sleep. This year I decided to take an old porch swing and transform it into my comfy sitting area. Now I have to fight to get on it because there is always someone in my spot. Read More...

Finding Garden Art In Unlikely Places

More and more you will see people adding the strangest things to their gardens, planting flowers around them and it just works. An old rusty rake suddenly makes a great hanging plant holder if you bury the stick into the ground and secure it with some quick dry cement. Old work boots or rain shoes suddenly take on new light if you plant annuals in them or even better easy care succulents. This turns your local flea market into a garden center with just a bit of imagination. Read More...

How To Create Garden Toadstools For Under 10 Dollars

A whimsy garden isn't very whimsical without an Alice In Wonderland toad stool, but they cost so much money to buy in the stores so I decided to craft my own. I made all of these with items I had in my home plus the cost of cement (3 dollars) and paint (6 dollars for 2 colors). See More

Adding Garden Color With A Spray Can

Ten years ago I was looking on Ebay when I found a 4 foot fiberglass garden tortoise. It looked way to large and heavy to ship, but I inquired about him from the seller. Much to my surprise the seller was only twenty minutes from my home so off to his place I went.

I fell in love with the tortoise as soon as I saw him and made him mine. At the time he had a natural color shell and looked like a real tortoise. This only lasted a few years out in the garden year round so I decided to give it a try and paint him with some outside spray paint.

The paint only lasts for about 2 years in the desert sun so I give him a new look every once in a while. It's fast and fun.  This was my garden tortoise after his last paint job.

This year he is more subdued. He is sporting a turquoise shell and black skin.

Here he is hiding in the bushes when we first got him

    The Original Magic Garden

The Magic Garden was a popular children's show back in the 70's. I didn't find out until I was in my teens that Paula was my cousin. I have no idea why I was not told, but I would have gotten a lot of clout on the playground had I been able to brag on that one when it really counted.
I loved this show growing up and I hope you enjoy one of their videos.
